Viennese Striezel
Oh I am such a bad bad buddy!!
I managed to bake this fantastic striezel the Bread Baking Babes were baking this month in time – only two days after Katie announced this months theme. But then I totally forgot to blog about it, can you imagine?!?! I am so sorry!!!
Viennese Striezel for a Viennese girl what a perfect match! You’d find this kind of striezel at a lot of coffee tables throughout the year in Viennese households.
I love it too – except for the raisins in it tho, as a little girl you would have seen me pick every single raising out of my slice of striezel and carefully arranged them in patterns on my plate…. hehe! Today as I am grown up and bake my own striezels I just substitute rasisns for cranberries and everythign is perfect :)
Thank you Katie for a trip down my own childhood memory lane while I was baking this bread.
This time I followed Katies recipe, except for the raisins I used cranberries and I used white spelt flour as always, adapted the rising times too now that I think about it… LOL
I love this striezel, It was lovels when it came fresh out of the oven and it was even better toasted and with butter the day after!!
