Citrus-marinated Mozzarella with fresh Tomatoes

A Lunch for my family...

The starter for my “Family lunch” was mozarella. I did not want to do the usual “Caprese” so I was looking for another possibility to work with mozzarella. I found it at “Kochfrosch” and was fascinated by her marinated version of mozzarella (which is based on Jamie Oliver).

So this is what I made out of her recipe (had to tweak it a bit as usual but mostly I stuck to the original)

4 bags of mozzarella

150 gram creme fraiche
50 gram plain yoghurt
4 tablespoons olive oil
1 lime (juice and zest)
2 teaspoons lemon zest
6-7 fresh leaves of mandarin sage

salt, pepper

(the original recipe calls for fresh chile and majoram – both things I do not really fancy much)

I cut the Mozzarella balls into thin slices. Mixed all the other ingredients except salt and pepper together and let the mozzarella marinate in a plastic container over night.
Before serving I arranged the slices with fresh tomatoes and some fresh basil leaves on a plate. Sprinkled with salt and pepper – and some lime zest!

Viola!
Many Thanks to Kati (at Kochfrosch) for this wonderful idea – my family loved it!
